In 2008 I was working my very first marketing agency job as a “Junior Web Designer.”

It was terrible. Yes, I liked my job, but it was not any kind of fun to be referred to as “Junior” around the office.

A day came where my boss decided that the agency should be offering SEO services.

So like any good boss who is incentivized by increasing company revenues, he went out and sold a bunch of SEO contracts to clients.

The problem was that no one in the office actually knew how to do SEO.

Now in my first few months at the agency, I had been become the “go to” person for solving problems. I literally just Googled any questions that my colleagues asked and “magically” found the answer. To this day, I am still not sure why people I worked with never put two and two together…

Due to this “resourcefulness” the boss had asked me if I would like to the “SEO Guy.”

I jumped at the chance to have a new title. Goodbye “Junior” and hello “SEO Guy.”

The problem was I didn’t really know much about SEO (but neither did anyone else).

I figured it couldn’t be that hard, so I agreed.

“Great!” said my boss with excitement, “You have 4 days before the first call with our clients to talk about our SEO strategy.”
 
I had 4 days to learn SEO.

So I turned to my good friend Google to teach my how to do SEO.

It was within those first few days that I planted the seeds of what would become the “Reverse SEO” process.
